How to restore lost contacts using MTN Backup

One of the reasons why I love the MTN back up service is because it helps one to make a reliable storage of your phone contacts remotely such that even if you lose your phone contacts by theft or shock, you can still retrieve your contacts from their online database without much worry.

MTN Backup service is much more reliable now than ever and as long as you have done an initial backup before, you can always restore them to your phone, even if it's a new phone.

Things your need to Restore your phone contacts
- Ensure that you've done an initial backup before
- Go to the website at www.mtnonline.com/mtnbackup
- Login to your account
- Go to my devices
- Select a new phone (if it is not the same initial phone your did the back up with and confirm the validation code)
- Click ok on Sync now
- Accept the new settings to your phone
- Your phone would begin the sync process. Allow it to complete

After the process which takes about 1 min, your phone would be updated with the contacts listed on your MTN backup online account

Notes:
- You can't restore your contacts, if you've not done an initial backup before
- Your phone and online account are updated each time your perform a sync with the latest updates on either of them
- It costs N50 for each update and N100 for the initial backup
- You can go to the settings on your phone and disable automatic sync if you don't want your phone to automatically update without your permission

If you've done backup before and your current phone is supported, you can still retrieve your lost contacts. Just go to their website and synchronize

Guys, if you've done a backup before, then you can always update your new phone with your stored contacts by going to the MTN backup portal, logging in and then clicking on Synchronize to update your phone. You can also update your phone from your phone if you can do a manual synchronization setup on it and then choose to sync.

To restore your lost contacts using MTN backup portal, you just need to log in to the website using your username: 23480***** and password and you should then do a synchronization on it. I'll load on a video on that shortly.

Just do a sim swap and get back your old number. With that you can then do a backup from your sim menu or online.

If you have done your backup before, then you are lucky to have saved those contacts. Just go to the MTN website and do the synchronization. If you still have issues, you should contact customer service.
