What does blood money refer to in the Nigerian context? It's mostly associated with the kind of money someone gets after performing a blood sacrifice and it is a well known story in the Nigeria circle although we are not really sure if it exists. Well if you ask me I'd say it exists but there is no scientific way to prove it but since we know that man is also a religious and spiritual being, you very well have to agree that it does happen. It is simply an evil way to get money as it is opposes the will of God since it involves offering human sacrifice to an evil spirit or demons in order to get an abundant supply of material wealth. There has been many movies in Nigeria's Nollywood to expose the practice which may thought not be common but real in Africa. You can remember the movie "Living in Bondage" in which Andy - a wretched man who had a lovely wife named Merit had to choose to sacrifice her in order to get rich as his friends were. He joined the blood money club and really had a lot of money. Afterwards he started seeing ghosts of his late wife which tormented him over and over again. He never had peace until he confessed. On the Christian side, blood money is a grave sin that offends love of God and the society because it was something done with full consent and willfully takes away human life which is precious. No right thinking person would condone the pursuit for money by blood letting.
